May 13 - Joseph Joiner Scores another Strong Finish

and Welcomes All Pro Tune Up as Associate Sponsor

Milton, Fla. – May 13, 2009 – Anyone that has been involved in racing very long knows that the sport is full of both highs and lows. Joseph Joiner and the Joiner Racing Team experienced both ends of the spectrum this past weekend while competing in two FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series events. Joseph and his Dirt Late Model team were victim of engine problems on Friday night, but were able to bounce back to score a solid finish on Saturday night.

The team kicked off the weekend by entering the FASTRAK WRS event at Northwest Florida Speedway in Blackman, Fla., on Friday night. The night started on a good note, as Joseph set the second fastest time in qualifying, just missing the pole by eight one-hundredths of a second. Joseph was excited for the feature race and felt he had a car capable of winning, but a blown head gasket forced him to retire from the event early. He was credited with a ninth place finish.

“It was a weird night for us Friday night. We had a fast car, maybe the best one there,” Joseph said. “To have motor problems like that is disappointing. We’ve been pretty lucky so far this year. I guess it finally caught up with us. That kind of stuff happens, it’s just a part of racing.”

With help from Clint Holmes at Nine Mile Speed Shop in Pensacola, Fla., the team worked all day Saturday to make repairs to the engine in Joseph’s GRT Late Model. With prepares finished just in time, they headed to Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., for another FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series event.

The engine seemed to be back to 100 percent as Joseph qualified on the pole for the night’s feature race. Joseph was unable to get the lead on the race’s initial start and was forced to file into second. Joseph pressured the race leader the entire race. He even took the lead just after the half-way point, but a caution came out before the lap was completed. With the field reset from the previous lap, Joseph once again found himself in the second position. It was around that time that Joseph’s engine seemed to lose horsepower. Joseph continued on however, racing hard for the lead in the remaining laps. He pulled alongside the leader multiple times before he ran out of laps and had to settle for second.

“The car setup was just as good Saturday night as it was Friday. It really showed in qualifying,” Joseph said. “We kind of got jumped on the start of the race. I was surprised that the track let the start stand. I think we had the fastest car early, but then the motor just felt like it was losing power down the straight-a-ways. I’m not sure what the deal was with that. But it’s still good to come back from Friday and get a second place finish. I’m very happy with it.”

The team plans to again make repairs to the engine this week and head back to Southern Raceway on Saturday for another FASTRAK WRS event. The team is also excited to announce the plans for the following week.

Joseph was one of 50 applicants accepted to compete in the FASTRAK Late Model Challenge at the Dirt Track at Lowe’s in Concord, N.C., on May 22nd. The $2500-to-win event will be run in conjunction with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race that same night and is part of NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The races at the dirt track that night are going to be televised live on Speed.

The team would also like to welcome All Pro Tune Up of Milton as an associate sponsor for the race at Lowe’s and for the rest of the season.
